Trans Nzoia governor George Natembeya has, on Monday, November 14, announced that health officials in his government will have their offices in, or near hospitals in a bid to fast-track service delivery.
As a result, Chief Executive Committee Member (CECM) for health, Chief Officer, Director and Senior medical officers will not have their offices far away from the hospitals.
“In order to improve health care and service delivery, under my administration, the chief executive Committee Member for Health, Chief Officer, director and senior medical officers will have their offices in hospitals for proper supervision and service delivery,” he tweeted.

He said while promising to ensure health workers’ salaries are up to par and that they are paid on time.
At the same time, the county boss warned medics in government hospitals against operating private healthcare businesses at the expense of their day jobs.
The result of this he says has been significantly higher prices as the strategy aims at maximising profits from lower-income patients.
He says they will have to choose one.
"To curb conflict of interest in service delivery no medical officer from Transnzoia County will be allowed to serve the public hospitals and attend to their own private clinics- they will have to choose one, either to serve mwananchi or run their private clinics,” Natembeya said.
Adding;
“We have over 100 medical doctors but you can’t find them in our hospitals because they are busy doing their private things and we will not allow it. You should report to work like every other civil servant.”
