For the first time since the coronavirus pandemic hit the country, Nakuru County had the highest number of cases with 94 infections out of the 442 reported in the last 24 hours.

The spike in Covid-19 cases has pushed Kenya's total caseload to 40,620 with the death toll increasing to 755 after four more patients died of the virus.

Friday’s update came after 5,327 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in which the youngest patient is a three-year-old.

Nairobi trailed Nakuru with the second-highest cases in the country with 80 cases.

According to the World Health Organization ranking, Kenya remains among the top 10 countries affected by Covid-19 in Africa albeit with an overall declining trend in new cases and deaths.

Since Covid-19 was first reported in China last December, the virus has infected over 35.55 million people and killed over 1 million across the world.
