A 28-year-old police constable attached to the crime office in Nakuru Central police station was found dead this morning.

Confirming the incident, Nakuru East Deputy Sub County Police Commander Phantom Analo said that John Ogweno was found at the parking lot of Kasarani line area in his car by a colleague who immediately reported.

“At 0700 hours it was reported by one of our officers that while he was walking at the car park in Police line Kasarani, he saw a motor vehicle belonging to his colleague, with windows broken, and after peeping inside he saw the owner lying on the seat” Analo confirmed to K24 Digital.

A police report seen by K24 Digital read; “At 0840 hrs. Occured on the night of 5/7/2021 at around 0230 Hrs at Kasarani Police line of Nakuru Police Station. It was reported by one officer that today at around 0700 hrs he was walking at the car park when he found the Motor vehicle reg NO. KBV 735 U Make Toyota Corolla having it's driver’s window screen broken and the engine running. He peeped inside and saw the car owner NO. 104550 PC JOHN OGWENO lying on the car seat with blood oozing from the nose.

"Police officers led by D/SCPC Nakuru East, SCCIO Nakuru East and OCS Nakuru visited the scene and confirmed that the officer had passed on.”

Analo further explained that even though the Director of Criminal Investigations has picked up the matter for further probe, John Oweno might have been killed as their observations had ruled out any suicide.

“Right now, we are trying to investigate and come to the root of the cause of the death because we cannot say it was suicide. We suspect someone has done it because the driver’s window had been splashed with a stone to access the constable in the vehicle” he said.

The constable has been a very reliable officer in crime bursting in the area, and we will find out whether the officer had any company as of yesterday.

This is the second case in a span of two weeks where a dead body is found inside a car, after the body of Molo flower farm manager was found dead in his car along Molo-Olenguruone route.
