A Nakuru man with three different names has been charged with defrauding a bank over Sh54 million using other Kenyan identity cards.

Peter Mwangi Wanjohi, also identified as Mwangi Wanjohi Michael, Michael Mwangi Wanjohi, and his firm Minhealth Unit were on Thursday, October 8, charged with conspiracy to defraud Guaranty Trust Bank of Sh54,700,000.

He denied five counts of acquisition of proceeds of crime, possession of Kenyan ID cards belonging to other persons, promotion of an offense, stealing, and conspiracy to defraud.

The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the offenses on April 2, 2020, with others not before the court.

According to the charge sheet, the man was found in possession of six ID cards belonging to other Kenyans when he was arrested on October 2, 2020, at Teachers Estate in Menengai, Nakuru County.
