Nakuru-based lawyer John Harry Gakinya has been charged with murdering Belgian Woman Dysseleer Lesoipa.

His plea-taking was deferred on Monday, March 9, 2020, to allow him to undergo a mental health test that is mandatory for suspects facing murder charges.

The advocate denied the murder charged before c and will be remanded until Monday, March 16, when his bail application will be heard.

Gakinya, who is based in Nakuru County, was arrested on Friday, March 6, 2020, over alleged involvement in the suspected killing of Lesoipa.

The Belgian woman, who was married to a Samburu dancer before their eventual separation in 2003, disappeared from her home in Nakuru County in June 2019.

Police investigations led to the arrest of her close friend Lucy Waithera, whom detectives say hired the services of Gakinya to file a succession case before the High Court in Nakuru.

In the case, Gakinya claimed Lesoipa had died from HIV/Aids leaving behind a will in which she had named him the executor of her property worth over Sh100 million.
