Nairobi woman who was accused and charged for recruiting young girls into prostitution and earning a living from it has finally been found guilty.

However, the accused woman Pamela Otieno Olunga failed to appear on the day of the judgment prompting the court magistrate to issue a warrant of arrest against her and be detained in custody as she awaits sentencing.

According to court records, Pamela was said to have procured a woman from Kariobangi North aged 20 years old in July for the purpose of an indecent act.

Consequently, Pamela gave Sh500 to three girls in a move to entice them to illegal prostitution. For the underage girls, their birth certificates were presented in court in support of the same.

Following completion of the trial, the court noted that the prosecution witnesses gave clear evidence that the victims were captured on the street donning provocative skin-tight and crop tops.

The victims would go to the clubs and dance suggestively a clear intention that the accused person was grooming victims to look appealing sexually for the purpose of attracting customers.

The court noted that any individual who intentionally controls any of the activities of another person relating to prostitution and does so for or in expectations of gain for him or herself or a third person is guilty of an offense and is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than five years or to a fine of Sh500,000 or to both

"Having considered all the evidence and the circumstances of the case as presented before me, I find the accused guilty of benefiting from child prostitution contrary to section 15 (b) of the sexual offenses Act and the charge of intentionally causing or inciting another person to become a prostitute," the magistrate ruled.

The matter was set to be mentioned on November 3 when the sentence on the same shall be delivered.
