The Nairobi county government is seeking to hire chief officers who will be responsible to the respective County Executive Committee (CEC) members for the administration of county dockets.

The new county government of governor Johnson Sakaja is seeking to replace outgoing chief officers who served in the former administration.

The current chief officers were vetted and approved in by the second County Assembly.

Functions

County chief officers are the authorised persons in the exercise of delegated power and are answerable to the CEC members in their respective dockets.

Their key functions include the day-to-day administration of departmental activities and the provision of strategic policy direction for effective service delivery within the departments they are assigned to.

They also implement policies and programmes within departments.

While county CEC members are equivalent to Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) in the national government, chief officers are equivalent to permanent secretaries.

How to apply

Applicants for chief officer posts must be Kenyans and in possession of a bachelor’s degree from a university recognized in the country.

Nairobi County Public Service Board asked prospective applicants to submit their application forms online before or on October 19, 2022.

The forms should be submitted online through the public service portal.

Nairobi County Public Service Board while advertising the job openings stated that successful applicants will be offered a monthly salary of Ksh127,110 to Ksh189,200 with a Ksh60,000 house allowance and Ksh20,000 commuter allowance.
