Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Abdi Hassan Guyo has lost four members of his family to a grisly road accident at Maili Saba along Meru-Isiolo highway.

The accident reportedly claimed his brother, a female relative (we are yet to establish the exact relationship), and his brother's two children aged 10 and 14 years respectively.

In a police report, their vehicle is said to have "developed a defect on the right tyre and consequently lost control and went offroad ramming into a fence."

The fatal incident happened while they were on transit from Nairobi to Isiolo.

"They were travelling to Isiolo and were just a few kilometres from Isiolo before the unfortunate incident happened," Kariobangi South MCA Robert Mbatia, a close friend of Mr Guyo said.

This comes barely a week after the Matopeni ward MCA was endorsed for Isiolo gubernatorial seat by the incumbent Governor Mohamed Kuti who dropped his re-election citing health concerns.

According to Kuti, Guyo who had declared interest to run for Embakasi Central parliamentary seat was his preferred successor.

“I have consequently dropped my re-election quest,” Kuti said after meeting leaders and elders from his Sakuye clan in Nanyuki.

Welcoming the endorsement, Guyo said he will contest on the Jubilee Party ticket.

"I believe I have what it takes to take our county to the next level," Guyo noted.

He is likely to battle for the seat with former governor Godana Doyo, former EACC boss Halakhe Waqo and politician Hussein Tene.
