Musician Kevin Bahati now says his life is in danger.

Bahati, who is vying for Mathare parliamentary seat, claimed his opponent has been sending him threatening messages and goons to attack him.

"Because I made it to Azimio rally, my opponent sent goons to manhandle me. They have torn my Jubilee polo shirt," the musician said in a video on Twitter.

Bahati is competing with the incumbent MP Anthony Oluoch.

"My opponent has done everything possible to ensure I am not in the race. He has tried to make sure my ticket is taken.

He has spread propaganda that I have stepped down and he has suggested that I should be given a job in Azimio government and I refused," he said.

Bahati further insisted that he is in the race to serve the people of Mathare and not to be given a job.

"I'm fighting for the people of Mathare. I have to repeat this again. I had a job and I have a job as a musician. People in Mathare are living pathetic life and i have to save them," he added.

During a rally in Mathare on Sunday, July 17, Raila Odinga endorsed Oluoch and promised Bahati a job in the Azimio government.

"Here in Mathare, as Baba I know I have two children in the same race. Do you want me to advise you as Baba? This is what I want. I have Oluoch and Bahati, this is what I decide, I will hold Bahati’s hand.

“Bahati is my child, I will give him a job in government. Ruaraka MP is TJ Kajwang while Mathare MP is Oluoch,” Raila said during the rally.

Bahati felt agitated and left the rally.
