Rapper Roy Smith Mwatia, alias Rufftone has come out to clarify a statement he made about an incident where he said he had clashed with his brother gospel singer Daddy Owen over politics.

Rufftone who was Speaking during a TV interview had claimed that Daddy Owen, a staunch supporter of ODM had previously tried to harm him following a disagreement over political ideology.

“In 2007, I remember my blood brother Daddy Owen was for ODM and I was for PNU. When we disagreed in the morning, Daddy Owen had to run out to the streets with friends armed with machetes wanting to harm me,” he narrated.

In a new twist, Rufftone now claims that there was a miscommunication and insisted that he used the statement as a figurative speech.

"I'm sorry for what I said and I take full responsibility. As a Christian, as a husband and as a leader, that was quite unfortunate. I ask Kenyans for forgiveness.

"It was an illustration that spun out of control. What I meant was people differ. I lopped (sic) Daddy Owen in to illustrate politics can actually infiltrate family members. I wanted to use family because that is what most people understand the best," he stated.

Rufftone who is vying for the Nairobi senatorial seat under the UDA party ticket had also claimed that it is hooliganism in ODM that has forced him not to subscribe to the party.

According to him, politics is about ideologies and if people differ about it, the situation should not be manifested to a physical altercation.

“ODM is a movement of hooliganism… I tend to believe that politics is about ideologies and if we differ politically we don’t have to manifest it physically,” the Mungu Baba hitmaker said.
