Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr now wants the Senate to hire interns whose key duties are to help senators draft legislations.

“It’s important to get people who are good drafts persons. All these senators need persons who can help them draft good legislation. It’s always a challenge.”

“And I hope Mr Speaker, that you can give these people (interns) certificates after they leave Parliament.”

“When we were working on the Constitutional Amendment Bill, we should have had interns in the room. We didn’t have them. Or they came this week?”

“Mr Speaker, let’s hope you will attach them to every committee, let them participate, give them work to do, let them draft legislation and grade them so that by the time they leave here this should have been a great course for them.”

“Bill Clinton became president by just visiting congress. There’s a lot to learn. It’s a privilege sitting in the speakers’ chamber and I hope it’s going to be useful to you. And we wish you well”
