Police in Nakuru are investigating an incident in which a senior military officer was found dead in puzzling circumstances in his house in Lanet, Nakuru County.

Major R. Mbithuka, who was attached to the 81 Tank Battalion, was on Wednesday, January 27 found lifeless in the toilet. His throat had been slit, with a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the fatal harming found next to his body.

Detectives, who visited Mbithuka’s house, said the deceased was in full military uniform when they discovered his body.

“We are yet to establish whether he was killed by someone else, or he harmed himself,” said a DCI detective who spoke to K24 Digital on condition of anonymity.

Mbithuka’s body was taken to a Nakuru hospital morgue.
