Police in Murang'a have launched a manhunt for a woman who is believed to have aborted a foetus and buried it in a shallow grave in Gaturi, Kiharu constituency.

The decomposing foetus estimated to be around seven months old that was stuffed in a sack was discovered by one of the residents after he saw a dog trying to pull it out.

According to Murang'a County Police Commander Donatha Kiplangat, the body was exhumed under the watch of the Area Assistant Chief and it's now preserved at the Murang'a county morgue.

She said according to the information gathered, the suspect is on the run and the residents say she was last seen about four days ago.

"We are pursuing leads to help us track the woman to have her arrested and charged in court," she said.

The police boss also said they shall be pursuing whoever helped the woman procure the abortion and have him/her arrested.

"Abortion is illegal in our country and anybody doing it should face the law," she asserted.
