Residents of Kirungu village in Kamacharia Mathioya, Murang'a county, are reeling in shock after a man stabbed his wife to death on the night of Saturday, November 12, 2022.

Peter Muturi, who is said to be mentally unstable is said to have stabbed his wife several times before hitting her on the head using a blunt object.

According to Mathioya OCPD Pauline Mwangi, the suspect aged 60 kept the body in the house until Sunday morning when he went to a local church looking for his brother and told him what he had done.

He later tried to stab himself but was rescued and taken to Kiriaini mission hospital where he is currently receiving treatment under the watch of police officers.

"We have launched an investigation into the matter to establish the circumstances under which the murder was committed," Mwangi said.

The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary.

Elsewhere, police in Kandara are investigating the murder of a middle-aged woman whose body was found dumped in a banana plantation in Mutoho near the Kenol- Murang'a road.

Residents who noted that the sudden death of the woman has come as a surprise to them disclosed that the woman was working with a nearby construction company.

They decried that cases of insecurity in the area were on the rise and called on relevant authorities to beef security.

"This place has been growing fast and consequently attracted a number of investors. However, it seems we also have an enemy within and we want him to be unmasked," John Mwangi, one of the residents said.
