Mudavadi asks Uhuru to form commission of inquiry into misuse of Covid funds

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi has appealed to President Uhuru Kenyatta to establish a commission of inquiry into the alleged misuse of Covid-19 funds at the Ministry of Health.

Mudavadi said the commission of inquiry will soften the stand of donors and development partners who have vowed to bolt out over the alleged Covid-19 fund misappropriation.

The ANC leader said Kenya is likely to lose Sh400 billion meant to fight HIV/Aids and malaria over corruption.

"Our investigative agencies seem to be overstretched and overrun by the intensity of the graft hence the need to have the commission of inquiry," said Mudavadi.

He said the commission of inquiry can only be established by the president, only such a team can end the blatant theft of public funds at the Health ministry.

The ANC leader also faulted the Orange Democratic Movement, which is led by Raila Odinga, for issuing a statement downplaying the extent of the theft at the Ministry of Health.
