Nominated Member of Parliament David Sankok now claims that Embakasi East MP Babu Owino put his life at risk when he hid his crutches during a special sitting of Parliament on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 afternoon.

Speaking to a local daily, Sankok said that when Babu took his crutches, he became vulnerable to any emergency issues that might have arisen during the session.

He said that without the crutches, he cannot move or stand on his own therefore Babu's action exposed him to danger.

Despite the ordeal, Sankok says that he has forgiven Babu and the incident is already behind him.

“By the time I realized that my crutches were missing, I couldn’t move or even go to the lavatory. If a fire broke out I would have been helpless," he told the publication.

Adding: "Because of my Christian values, I have decided to forgive Babu."

Sankok criticized the former student leader for claiming that his crutches could have been used as weapons by his colleagues.

“Those saying that my crutches can be used as weapons are wrong. They are just tools I use for walking. If I were to use them as weapons, the said persons could also use their legs to attack me as well and I wouldn't be able to do the same," Sankok said.

Babu had claimed that the crutches would have been used by MPs drawn from the Tangatanga side of Jubilee to attack their opponents during the heated debate.

According to the controversial lawmaker, the pro-Tangatanga allies were so emotional during the Political Act (Amendment), 2021 debate and could have used the crutches to attack those supporting the Bill.

“Tangatanga MPs were debating with emotions. They could have used Hon. Sankok crutches as weapons to unleash violence on us, I saw it prudent to hide them until they cool down,” he wrote.
