Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya is appealing to the President to intervene following the appraisal of Sirisia MP John Waluke's sentencing by Justice Esther Maina after he was found guilty of fraud.

In a video, the lawmaker argues that the Western part of the country has already embraced William Ruto's presidency thus he should as well embrace forgiveness and move forward.

The first-time MP claims Waluke is the first person to suffer such a low blow following his 67-year jail sentence with an alternative fine of Ksh1 billion.

"It is unfortunate that the judiciary is now working towards pleasing some status quo.. It has never happened in the history of Kenya that someone was subjected to pay Ksh1B bail this is the first time and as leaders of Western Kenya, we will not stand on this. We only have one President and we have accepted you as our President please release Waluke," Salasya is heard saying in a video.

He adds that the judiciary should work towards healing the nation after a successful general election.

"Our president His excellency @WilliamsRuto please advise @CJMarthaKoome to do justice and release @HonJohnWaluke this country is blessed and we thank God for the post-election peace we have experienced so far .@Kenyajudiciary heal this country instead, let us forgive and move on," the MP stated in a tweet.

Waluke has already surrendered himself to prison authorities to start his jail term.
