Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) are investigating an incident where a son of a Nominated MP David Ole Sankok has shot himself dead in Narok on Monday afternoon.

Narok County criminal investigation officer Mwenda Ethaiba confirmed the incident saying the son of the outspoken shot himself on the chin at their home in Ewuaso Ngiro Trading centre, dying on the spot.

Ethaiba said, Memusi Sankok, a Form Four student at Kericho High School accessed the gun at their home where his father had kept the gun and shot himself after his father questioned why he was home a week later despite being given money for shopping and fare back to school.

"We have established that last week, the MP provided cash for his son to go back to school in Kericho while he was out of the country on official duties. The Form Four student, however, did not report to school and got angry when his father inquired," Ethaiba said.

Memusi is said to have rushed into his father's gun-safe for the gun which he used to take his own life while his father, the MP, was attending to some errands at his Osim country lodge which is a few kilometres from his home.

"We confirmed that the 15-year old boy who was a Form 4 student at Kericho High School shot himself. "

"DCI officers are already collecting forensic evidence to start investigations. It's not clear how he accessed the firearm that should have been properly secured," Ethaiba explained.
