Lugari MP Ayub Savula has been released after a brief stay in custody at the Mumias Police Station.

The MP was arrested on Sunday morning, July 5, while fueling his car at a petrol station in Sabatia market in Butere.

Before his arrest, Savula was in a convoy headed to Busia County that included Musalia Mudavadia and Moses Wetangula.

Police accused the MP of flouting COVID-19 regulations as the leaders were headed to address a public gathering in Busia.
