Motorists plying the Suswa-Narok Road were on Wednesday morning trapped in a massive long traffic jam that lasted over five hours on the Suswa-Narok Road.

The jam was caused by a protest by angry locals after a six-year-old child fell and died on a roadside trench on Tuesday evening, September 29.

Speaking to K24 Digital on Wednesday morning, several residents said that they have been demanding that authorities cover-up the treacherous trench along the road for more than a year.

The trench is along the road near the Suswa Industrial Park which is still under construction.

Following the road closure, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) issued an alert to motorists to exercising caution when approaching the area.

KeNHA said local police were mobilised to restore order and control the huge traffic.

Last week, a speeding lorry knocked down several cattle at Satelite area on Suswa-Mai Mahiu Road, leading to protests a major traffic snarl-up.
