Motorists have a reason to smile this festive season after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) reduced the per-litre prices of petrol and diesel by Ksh1.09 and Ksh2.83 respectively.
The price of a litre of kerosene has also gone down by Ksh1.75 in new prices announced Saturday, December 14.
Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will now retail at Ksh109.50, Ksh101.78 and Ksh102.31 respectively in Nairobi starting midnight. The new prices take effect from December 15, 2019 to January 14, 2020.
In the November/December review, a litre of Super Petrol retailed at Ksh110.59 in Nairobi while Diesel and Kerosene retailed at Ksh104.61 and Ksh104.06 respectively.
EPRA says the downward adjustment of the prices is as a result of a dip in the average imported cost of Super Petrol, which decreased by 0.52 per cent per cubic metre in November compared to October. Cost of imported Diesel also decreased by 3.36 per cent per cubic metre while Kerosene dipped by 3.75 per cent per cubic metre in November compared to October.
Following the fresh review, in Mombasa, a litre of Super Petrol will retail at Ksh107.45, whereas Diesel will go for Ksh99.74 and Kerosene will be sold at Ksh100.26 per litre.
In Kisumu, a litre of Super Petrol will go for Ksh109.90, whereas Diesel will cost the motorist Ksh102.38 per litre, and Ksh102.91 for one litre of Kerosene.
