A family in Mombasa is in distress after their loved one disappeared without a trace in December 2021.

According to a televised report, 20-year-old Ahmed Abdi Kan left Samburu on December 23 for his home in Kingorani, Mombasa for the end of year celebrations.

Ahmed's kinsmen say they got worried after their son failed to show up at home prompting them to make a police report.

"Siwezi sema kama niko na huzuni ama masikitiko. Mwenyezi mungu ndiye anaye jua jinsi ninavyo sikia. Lakini naskia uchungu sana na sijui kama mtoto wangu yuko hai ama ako vipi," his mother said during an interview.

The family says that they have been in search of Ahmed for three weeks adding that their visits to various police stations have been in vain even after Ahmed's phone was found in Samburu.

"Mzee has not slept since Ahmed went missing, he can even die of cardiac arrest. You see, he has 30 children but losing a loved one is still painful. We have moved from mortuary to mortuary but we have not traced him," a family member said.

Ahmed's disappearance comes after three friends who on December 3, left their homes in Mombasa for Thika with the aim of purchasing a motor vehicle disappeared and one was found dead on Tuesday, January 11.
