Molo MP Kuria Kimani has sworn off alcohol after receiving flak for showing up for a meeting to discuss ways to tame increasing consumption of illicit liquor in his constituency.

The first-time MP, who is 30, angered his constituents after drunkenly staggering to a meeting meant to address an increase in the number youth drowning in illicit brew.

After being blamed for acting irresponsibly, the MP blamed his behaviour on the influence of the devil.

“Temptations are meant for every human being and are brought about by Satan and everyone can fall into temptations and I vow not to go back to such behavior again,” Mr. Kimani said.

Speaking in his constituency on Sunday, the legislator urged his constituents to let bygones be bygones and allow him to focus on development.

"It is time to work for the mwananchi. It is time to move on,” he said.
