Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali has threatened to sue his Suna East counterpart Junet Mohammed over what he termed as a libellous tweet linking him to a city woman and acts of sodomy.

Ali, in a demand letter through McKay Advocates, wants the legislator to retract the statement, admit liability and issue an apology within seven days.

The former TV journalist-turned-politician says Junet posted the tweet on his official Twitter handle while in a heated obscene argument with controversial tweep, Aoko Otieno, on September 10, 2022.

"My client is seeking unconditional admission liability for libel within seven days, failure to which he (Ali) will proceed to file a suit against Junet for damages both general and exemplary among other remedies," Ali's lawyer Erick Kivuva said.

Ali claims Junet's tweet is defamatory

Ali claims the tweet with the message "where are the nudes our slut from Migori. Endelea kufungulia Jicho Pevu boot" conveys a defamatory imputation directed at discrediting him by lowering his character in the estimation of right persons of the society.

"You have exposed him to hatred, contempt and ridicule as well as injuring his reputation in his personal and public life, trade and profession," the demand letter read in part.

"Twitter users who interacted with Junet's tweet now view Ali as an immoral member of the society."
