Two robbery suspects were killed by mob in Nairobi over the weekend.
The first incident had two suspects from which one died while receiving treatment and his accomplice left nursing injuries at the hospital.
The two had been beaten by an irate mob in Umoja area of Nairobi on Sunday, September 18, 2022 before they were saved by the police and rushed to the hospital. One of the suspects later succumbed to injuries.
According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, the two, armed with a Somali sword, confronted a pedestrian who was headed to Korogocho market and robbed him of his mobile phone.
The pedestrian identified as Moses then raised an alarm and members of the public responded to intervene and managed to disarm the two before recovering the phone and the sword.
The robbers were then severely beaten before they were rescued by the police who were on patrol and rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital.
One of the suspects identified as John Lumumba, 20, was admitted in a stable condition while his accomplice succumbed to injuries he sustained from the beating.
"While heading to Korogocho market, Moses was confronted by two young men armed with a Somali sword who robbed him of his mobile phone. He raised an alarm and members of the public intervened and managed to disarm the two recovering the sword and phone," the police report read in part.
"They were rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital and one John Lumumba was admitted in a stable condition while the other unknown male adult succumbed to his injuries," the report added.
The body was moved to City Mortuary awaiting an autopsy and identification.
Elsewhere in Kibera, a mugger was beaten to death by a mob and left dead after he snatched a handbag from a lady who raised alarm, and the members of the public quickly responded by descending on him.
The deceased, 24, snatched the handbag from a lady who is yet to report the matter to the police.
The deceased was beaten to death and left at the scene.
"Police rushed to the scene and found the deceased lying in a pool of blood where it was established that the male adult about 24 years had snatched a handbag from the unknown lady and while escaping, the lady raised alarm and they descended on the mugger beating him to death," the police report read in part.
The body of the deceased was moved to the city morgue awaiting an autopsy and identification.
