Police in Kikuyu, Kiambu County are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an 18-year-old girl whose mutilated body was on Wednesday morning (July 29) found dumped in a maize plantation in Rusigetti Village.

Preliminary investigations indicate the teenager, who went missing on Sunday evening (July 26), was raped and thereafter killed.

On the evening that she went missing, Felistus Wariara, a Form One student and an only child, had been sent to the shop by her mother, but she did not return home.

Efforts by Wariara’s relatives to look for her in different places, bore no fruit until Wednesday, when children, who were grazing livestock near the maize plantation in Rusegetti, discovered her body.

Wariara’s eyes had been gouged out and her body stabbed in different parts, relatives told K24 Digital.

“At the time of our arrival at the scene, she was still lying in the farm naked,” one of the deceased’s kinspersons said.

Rusigetti Chief, John Kahiu Kimani, confirmed the incident to K24 Digital, saying investigations into Wariara’s death have commenced.

Police took the teenager’s body to PCEA Kikuyu Hospital morgue.
