A minor is among two suspects who have been arrested by the police in connection to the cruel murder of elderly women in Marani, Kitutu Chache North, Kisii County.

K24 Digital has established that the juvenile and another suspect identified as Amos Nyakundi Ondieki were arrested by a multi-agency security team that included detectives drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) homicide wing and police officers.

The duo is believed to be part of a gang that killed the four women for allegedly engaging in ‘black magic.’

The women included Jemima Mironga, 60, Agnes Ototo, 57, Sigara Onkware, 62 and Sindege Mayaka, 85.

"Two prime suspects believed to be involved in the cruel murder of elderly persons in Kisii County over the weekend have been nabbed by the police,” the National Police Service (NPS) said in a statement.

“We are continuing to pursue other suspects who are still at large,” the police added.

The four women who were killed on Sunday, October 17 were accused of bewitching a Form Two student at a local school in Marani.

Areas residents are said to have begun the process of identifying those who bewitched the student to become dumb.

When the student reportedly regained his speech, he claimed that the four women were behind his troubles. His claims prompted the locals to storm the home of the four women, assaulted them before burning them alive.

The bodies of the four were taken to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital as the police continue with the investigations.
