Lawyer and activist Miguna Miguna has threatened to take legal action against a judge who dismissed four cases he had filed against former Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang'i and ex-Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.
In a statement shared on his official Twitter account, the firebrand lawyer queried why the judge had dismissed the cases. He also wondered why the judge did not inform him that the cases were withdrawn.
"Who is Justice C. Meoli? On whose orders did she dismiss 4 of my cases against Fred Matiang’i, Kibicho & Others on 14 October 2022 - 6 days before my return to Kenya - without notice to me instead of rendering judgment against the defendants who hadn’t defended?"Miguna posed.

Miguna stated that the judge was being inconsiderate and has since called for investigations and subsequently instructed his advocates to reinstate the cases and take legal action against the judge.
"Justice C. Meoli must be investigated for surreptitiously presiding over multiple cases against state perpetrators of impunity and other apologists in secret and without notice to me. I have instructed advocates to reinstate the cases and pursue action against the judge,"
He added: "The rules of the Court and common practice around the world don't permit a single judge to preside over and determine more than one case in one sitting, yet Justice C. Meoli purported to dismiss more than 4 cases I had filed against various parties at one sitting without notice,"

Miguna demands compensation
Miguna had earlier sought compensation for the damages he incurred after he was deported for swearing in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga.
Among the damages, he filed compensation for were assault, defamation and unlawful detention.
He demanded that Matiang'i and Kibicho ensured that he was compensated Ksh7 million, money he said he was awarded by the High Court and the Court of Appeal as damage fees.
"To Fred Matiang'i, Karanja Kibicho and Major General Gordon Kihalangwa: You are hereby DIRECTED to contact my advocate, Adrian Kamotho Njenga, and sort out the DAMAGES and COSTS the High Court and Court of Appeal awarded me in the various cases I won since 2018. Do so promptly BEFORE I land," he stated.
He had also proposed that the government issues Red Alerts against the two for the 'crimes' they had committed against Kenyan citizens.
"Whatever goes around comes around. The MAFIA like Fred Matiang'i, Kibicho and Kihalangwa issued RED ALERTS against me for more than 4 years. Now is their turn to contend with RED ALERTS for CRIMES they committed against Kenyans," the statement reads in parts.
