Worry as armed gang attacks Migori residents

Police officers in Migori County have launched a manhunt for a gang of 13 men who were armed with crude weapons and made attacks on two different places in the county on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

In the first incidence, a gang of five men armed with crude weapons and covered with facemasks invaded Oriah estate and attacked the night guard leaving him with head injuries.

The robbers then attacked a resident of the estate on his motorcycle before robbing another property of unknown value.

The guard was rushed to Migori county hospital where he was admitted and is in fair condition.

“A gang of five men armed with crude weapons attacked the night guard Tobias Okumu and cut him on the head. They robbed Hassan Abdiress who was riding on his motorcycle property of unknown value,” part of the police report read.

In the second incident, eight men armed with crude weapons invaded the homestead of Jackson Ochenge and attacked his family leaving them with minor injuries.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, Ochenge's wife sustained a small finger injury while their daughter aged 9 years old sustained a deep cut on the right leg and hand.

The eldest daughter sustained injuries on her left hand while her brother complained of a headache after being slapped by one of the robbers with a machete.

They took off with a mobile phone and cash.

“The robbers attacked the wife who sustained a small finger injury and their three children. The younger one 9 years old sustained a deep cut on the right leg and left hand while the eldest daughter was injured on the left hand and their eldest brother was injured on the left hand and complained of a headache after being slapped by a machete,” part of the police report read.

“The thugs then robbed off an Itel mobile phone worth Ksh 3000 and cash amounting to ksh2, 400 before escaping to an unknown destination.”

The victims were rushed to Migori County hospital where they were treated and discharged in fair condition.

Police have launched investigations on the two attacks.
