Immediate former Harambee Stars coach Sebastien Migne will return to settle in Kenya owing to the fact that his family found the country amiable enough to pitch camp in.
The Frenchman was poached from Democratic Republic of Congo in May 2018 to guide Harambee Stars but ended his tour of duty on a mutual agreement with Football Kenya Federation following a poor performance in the Africa Cup of Nations and CHAN qualifiers that has also led to a number of countries on the continent take a similar route.
Migne left the country to France for a medical procedure on his child but marked August 29 as his return date.
“I will be back in Kenya because I stay here now and I want to continue to stay. I have to deal with some personal stuff but I’ll be around,” he told People Sport.
Exit deal
The Frenchman left under a cloud of secrecy barely 15 months into his three-year contract with FKF.
Hired on a Sh2.5 million monthly salary, Migne stood to rake in Sh52 million for the 21 months had FKF not arbitrarily ended his contract.
A compromise deal was, however, struck between the two parties, leading to the abrupt disruption of Migne’s stay.
Migne refused to divulge details of his dismissal, only expressing confidence that FKF officials would keep their end of the deal.
Good faith
“The agreement was made in good faith between me and the federation and I did my part. I have all the hope that they will keep their end of the bargain because we sat down and negotiated in good faith,” he added.
The Frenchman will, however, not hesitate to escalate the issue to world governing body FIFA should FKF fail to pay him his severance package.
FKF is embroiled in disputes with former Harambee Stars coaches Robert Williamson and Adel Amrouche over severance payouts after the federation dismissed them.
“I’m not worried at all about my pay, right now there are mechanisms to resolve such occurrences. There is FIFA and there are other avenues which I can use to pursue but I don’t think it will come to that,” he said.
Migne had said that FKF would not be able to pay him all his dues if they sacked him.
