Meru man allegedly kills his friend over Ksh20 debt

A middle-aged man is in custody at Maua police station, for allegedly killing his friend, Kenneth Bundi, over a Ksh20 unpaid debt.

The suspect identified as Fred Mugambi,24, alongside an accomplice Murangiri Maore are alleged to have assaulted the deceased last evening at Kambi market in Igembe, Meru County.

According to eyewitnesses, the two had confronted the deceased over Ksh20 advanced to him earlier, to buy a glass of local brew.

“A brawl ensued when the deceased could not pay back, and the two descended on the deceased with blows and kicks, leaving him unconscious but was rushed to Nyambene level 4 hospital by well-wishers where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” DCI said

Maore who is the second suspect in the alleged murder is said to have fled the scene immediately after the incident, but detectives have launched a manhunt for him.
