Meru businessman shot, goods worth Ksh110,000 stolen from his Wines and Spirits shop

Police in Imenti, Meru County, are in pursuit of a gang of four who shot and badly injured a businessman before stealing goods worth Ksh110,000 from his Wines and Spirits shop.

In a report filed at Meru Police Station Eugene Kiogora the owner of the shop was on Tuesday night shot thrice and badly wounded.

He was taken to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital.

“Lilian Kathure from Gitimbine, Igoki location reported that there was a robbery with violence incident at Baraka wine and spirits shop and that her husband aged 50 years was shot,” the report read in part.

It further revealed that police officers rushed to the scene and established that the four were armed with an AK47 rifle and a knife.

They entered the shop at 7:30pm where they shot the man before stealing Sh90,000 and a mobile phone.

Police said that the proprietor was shot on the right side of the stomach and the bullet exited the back.

“Three spent cartridges of 7.62x39 were recovered at the scene,” the report said.

Kiogora is currently admitted to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.
