Evurori ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Duncan Mbui is recuperating after armed gangs raided his home on Monday night September 5, 2022, injuring him and his wife.

Mbui expressed fears that his life is in danger following the attack. He called on the government to offer him security.

"They would have killed us, we were only saved by a vehicle that was coming opposite where we were being driven to," Mbui said.

Mbui revealed that the thugs entered his house at around 2 am after cutting window grills in one of the rooms using an axe.

The MCA together with his wife and their house help were sleeping when the thugs gained entry into the house.

Mbui said when the house help heard the thugs break into the house and she rushed to the room where he was sleeping with his wife to alert them.

The three locked themselves in the main living room before the robbers forced their way in.

The thugs descended on the three with kicks and blows demanding that the MCA to surrender the cash he had in the house which he had collected from the businesses he operates including a petrol station.

When the politician declined to submit to their demands, one of the attackers struck him on the back of his head using a machete sending him to the floor before they all started kicking him.

Mbui pleaded with the thugs to spare him while lying on the ground but his pleas fell on deaf ears as his attackers threatened to kill him if he did not comply with their demand.

Besieged MCA had only Ksh10,000 at home

He noted that he gave the thugs Ksh10,000 which was the only cash he had with him in his house but they wanted more.

“I pleaded with them to spare us and asked them to accompany us to the petrol station to get them more money,” he said.

Mbui said that the unrelenting thugs bundled his wife, their house help and him into his car and drove them towards Ishiara Town approximately five kilometres away where his business is located.

To thwart any attempt by the MCA and his wife to call for help, the robbers confiscated all of their phones.

Luckily, on their way, the thugs noticed a light from an oncoming vehicle and suspected that it was police officers responding to the distress call by the MCA, his wife and the house girl.

They thought the police had been informed about the incident.

The thugs quickly diverted the vehicle to another road where they dumped the three in a thicket before vanishing to an unknown destination.

"The experience was bad I can tell you," Mbui recalled.
