Matiang’i declares Monday a public holiday

Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government Fred Matiang'i has declared December 13, 2021, a national holiday.

In a press release, Matiang'i said that Monday will be a public holiday by dint of Jamhuri Day which falls on a weekend.

"In line with the provision of Section 2 and 4 of the Public Holiday Act (cap 110), it is hereby confirmed that 13th December 2021 will be a public holiday, by dint of Jamhurui Day falling on Sunday 12th December 2021," Matiangi'i said in a statement.

Jamhuri Day is an important day in the history of the country as Kenya celebrates her 57th independence anniversary.

"All citizens are encouraged to honour and celebrate this day in a manner that promotes unity, national cohesion and economic progress in the country," he added.
