A matatu tout, Wycliffe Aloys Orinda, who admitted to court to abusing alcoholic drinks to seduce older women, has been jailed for three years probation.

Orinda was convicted on his own plea of guilty for creating a disturbance after the mental health test ordered by the court revealed he was fit to stand trial.

In her ruling on Wednesday, February 24, Nairobi Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku also ordered the convict to be taken to Judah Healing Centre in Kajiado for three months before serving his sentence.

The tout shocked the court last month when he confessed that he smokes bhang, consumes Blue Ice vodka and Senator beer all in a bid to gather enough courage to approach older women. He said the alcohol effect makes older women appear more attractive.

Orinda, who seemed remorseful, appeared before Chief Magistrate Mutuku for sentencing.

The probation report produced in court revealed that the 31-year-old man had upbringing issues, having faced a hard life being brought up by a single mother who later died leaving him and his six siblings in the care of their uncle.

He dropped out of high school.

The probation report revealed, true to his words, that he married an older woman, 43-year-old Caroline Wangui with whom he had a public quarrel that led to his run-in with the law.

It is Wangui he confronted at her workplace, demanding to see his children following a short spell in police custody over an unrevealed incident.

When he confronted Wangui, he destroyed property belonging to her employer, leading to his arrest and charging in court.

Prior to his arrest, the probation officer revealed that Orinda had several spats with his wife, incidents that were reported at Central Police Station, Shauri Moyo Police Station and California Police Station.

He still has a similar ongoing case at Makadara Law Courts, the probation officer told the court.

His wife told the probation officer that Orinda is a hardworking and caring person but his behaviour changed due to his alcohol abuse.
