Police in Nyeri County have arrested their colleague accused of defiling a 13-year-old girl in his house in Narumoru on Friday, December 13.

Police constable Stephen Wachira -- whose work station is Narumoru post -- allegedly defiled the teenager at 5am. The girl allegedly ended up in the cop’s house after she was stranded at Narumoru bus stage.

In a report filed at Nyeri Police Station, the victim was taken to the police post by a Good Samaritan who found her stranded at the bus terminus at 10pm on Thursday, December 12.

“It is said the girl, who hails from Nyeri, was going to Nanyuki to visit her uncle, but she was dropped at the bus stage. However, she had no bus-fare to proceed with the journey,” says a police report seen by K24 Digital.

At the station, the girl was received by two police constables; one of them being the suspect.

At 5am Friday, Wachira allegedly left the police post with the teenager, saying he was escorting her to the bus stage so that she could take a bus to Nyeri Town, where she came from.

“Instead, [Wachira] took her to his house, where she was defiled,” says the police report.

“After the incident, the suspect escorted the complainant to the bus stage, where she boarded a matatu to Nyeri. On the way to Nyeri, the complainant informed the passengers that she had been defiled by a police officer at Narumoru Police Station,” added the report.

The statement says some passengers volunteered to take the minor to Nyeri Central Police Station, where the girl reported the incident.

“Investigations commenced immediately leading to the arrest of the police officer, who was positively identified by the complainant during an ID parade. The girl, thereafter, led the [law enforcement] officers to the house of the suspect in the police lines. He was arrested and escorted to Nyeri Police Station pending arraignment,” says the report.

This comes just a day after another female minor in Kilifi County was allegedly molested by a male police officer in holding cells.

As part of punishment, the girl, 15, was on Thursday, December 12, allegedly taken to the police cells by her parents so that she could be disciplined for engaging in petty theft and being rebellious.

While at the holding cell, the girl alleged that one of the cops on duty sucked her breasts and forced her to perform oral sex on him.

Kilifi North police commander, Njoroge Ngigi, said investigations into the 15-year-old girl’s claims have begun.
