Unknown gunmen on Monday, October 8, 2021, shot dead one man and fatally wounded another in a deadly shoot-out within Muslim Agency in Marsabit County.

According to David Saruni who is the Marsabit Central Deputy County Commissioner, the three were shot by unknown gunmen who were riding on a motorcycle.

“The unknown gunmen sped off as soon as they sprayed bullets on the three men whose identity we conceal until their families are informed,” Saruni said.

According to him, the injured were then rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Marsabit Teaching and Referral Hospital awaiting an autopsy.

The incident is said to have caused tension within Marsabit town.

As soon as the incident took place at 6 pm, businessmen and women were forced to close down due to fear of more attacks.

Marsabit County is on the radar of the police due to similar attacks, which were allegedly fuelled by clannism and political rivalry.

This is not the first attack in the Constituency.

On Friday, unknown men who were equally armed with guns killed six people and left 11 others badly wounded in an attack that took place at Bank Quarters located within Saku Constituency.

Both attacks have been condemned by Saku Member of Parliament Ali Rasso.

Rasso asked the police to sway into action and help solve the problem people were facing in the Constituency.

This has also attracted similar calls from local religious leaders, who have asked the government to protect locals within the vast Marsabit County.

Daniel Wario who is the Anglican Church of Kenya leader in Marsabit called for peace to be restored in the county.

“It is time this issue of clan profiling is solved because peace is better than anything,” he said.
