A body of a 55-year-old man was on Sunday, May 28, 2023, found dumped on the roadside in Kirwarwa village in Mutithi, Kirinyaga County.

The lifeless body of the man identified as Bernard Mwai was found without a shirt with his jacket and a gumboot dumped two kilometres away.

This was according to his brother Festus Maina who noted that the deceased was working as a mason.

On his part, the area Nyumba Kumi elder Peter Mwangi has called on relevant authorities to act quickly and investigate the horrifying incident.

“There has been a lot of insecurity in this area which has paralysed Sunday services,” Mwangi said.

Confirming the incident, Mwea-west Sub-county Deputy Police Commander Sammy Beauttah said investigations into the death are ongoing.

“Right now, we cannot tell whether the man was killed although his body and clothes were over two kilometres apart as there are no signs of struggle unless we wait for the post-mortem,” Beauttah said.

The deceased's family says a post-mortem will be conducted Monday.
