A man was arraigned before Kibera court over claims that he carted a mattress, bed and other property valued at Sh200, 000 belonging to a female friend.

According to the charge sheet, Russel Weshah David allegedly obtained the items belonging to Chrissy Omwenga by falsely pretending that he was able to pay for them on January 10, 2021, within Westlands area in Nairobi.

The complainant was planning to shift from an apartment she had been living in within the St. Michael area in Westlands to a different location.

She wanted to sell some of her belongings so that it would be easy to move.

For this reason, she decided to advertise some of the items online and were viewed by some of her friends.

The accused was to pay for seven-seater sofas, double-decker bed, mattress among other items all valued at ksh200, 000 as per an agreement.

After some time, he went and picked the items since the complainant had left them for safekeeping at the apartment.

It is alleged that after he had picked the items, Weshah started taking the complainant in circles since he had not paid for the items.

This forced the complaint to report the matter to the police.

The accused denied the charge and was set free on Ksh100, 000 cash bail.

The case will be mentioned on December 2.
