A 25-year-old woman from Siaya County is nursing stab wounds at her parents’ home in Alego-Usonga Sub-County after she was on Tuesday evening (September 17) attacked by her husband.
Akinyi Otieno, a teacher at St. Paul’s Gulf Academy school in Bondo Town, was allegedly stabbed in the neck and cheek by her spouse, Kevin Otieno Ochieng, who stormed the classroom where the victim was attending to her pupils.

The victim’s horrified learners watched helplessly as Otieno attacked his wife.
The pupils’ screams, however, attracted the attention of teachers and security personnel within the school. The suspect was, thereafter, confronted and roughed up by the teachers, who wanted to lynch him.
It is alleged that Otieno had earlier stormed the school where his wife teaches and took her phone before returning later in the evening, when he meted out the attack.
It remains unclear why Otieno physically assaulted his wife, though it is suspected that the content on Akinyi’s phone could have triggered the suspect’s anger.
Akinyi claims her husband has, in the past, threatened to kill her. The victim alleges that her marriage has been riddled with frequent wrangles.
Otieno was arrested and taken to Bondo Police Station, where he was later Tuesday released in unclear circumstances.
Akinyi, on the other hand, was taken to Bondo Sub-County Hospital, where she was treated and discharged. She is currently putting up at her parents’ home, saying she fears for her safety.
St. Paul’s Gulf Academy school director, Indere Ambajo, confirmed the incident.
