Man stabbed to death for defending mother during altercation in Migori

Police in Migori County are holding a 36-year-old fisherman for allegedly stabbing a man in the chest killing him on the spot.

The suspect, Calvins Omondi Makaya, is said to have gone to the homestead of the deceased and started insulting the late's mother.

"The deceased confronted the accused resulting in a fight between the two and in the course of the fight, the accused allegedly stabbed the deceased on the right side of the chest with a kitchen knife inflicting him with a deep wound," a police report seen by K24 Digital read in part.

The deceased was rushed to Matoso Private Hospital while bleeding profusely and was pronounced dead on arrival.

"The suspect was pursued by irate members of the public and arrested him and then handed over to the police," the police report added.

The scene of the crime was processed by the officers and necessary action taken.

The body of the deceased was moved to Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy.
