A middle-aged man in Thika's Biafra Estate has this evening been lynched after he was found stealing some household staff from a house.

The man who police are yet to identify is alleged to have accessed the items using master keys.

When the owner of the house arrived and found the man had stolen a 6KG cooking gas, a television and its stand, she screamed attracting the attention of residents.

Out of fury, the irked residents brutally beat the theft suspect before they set him on fire.

According to Isaiah Owidi who witnessed the incident, the man was accused of belonging to a clique that has been notoriously terrorizing locals in the populous estate.

"They have lynched him out of anger," said Owindi.

The incident happened only a day after Thika MP told Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho on the face about augmented insecurity in Thika, especially Thika East where locals have been experiencing daily spates of attacks.

PS Kibicho who addressed residents yesterday promised to beef up security in the area by availing more police patrol vehicles and officers.
