Man in court for robbing w***n of Vaseline oil

A 24-year-old man has been charged with robbing a woman of Vaseline oil, Veroline pure Jelly, one blue rosary, two pens and one Rexona antiperspirant all valued at Ksh1000.

Isaiah Munabi who appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi is alleged to have committed the offence on February 16, 2022, at about 1000hrs along Link road in upper hill while armed with a panga.

The accused who appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate court pleaded guilty and later changed the plea to not guilty. 

According to court documents, the accused was nabbed by police officers while on their daily patrol.

The officers saw a man and a woman struggling at a distance of about 15 metres while the man was armed with a panga.

"The man managed to snatch the handbag from the woman and ram away towards railways lane," the court document read in parts. 

The investigating officer gave the man a chase and managed to get hold of him and thereafter escorted him to Capital Hill police station.

The suspect after a court hearing was slapped with a bond of Ksh200,000 or alternative cash bail of Ksh 80,000.

The matter will be mentioned after 14 days for the pre-trial.
