Police have launched investigations into an incident where a man died outside a bar just moments after taking alcohol.

The incident happened in Garissa County and was reported by the joint’s manager Fredrick Thiong’o Mahira who is the manager of 3D Bar and Restaurant.

In his statement to the police, Thiong’o said that he was alerted by other revellers that there was a person who was lying outside the club.

“While at the club he was informed that an unconscious person was lying outside the club. When he went to check on the person, at first he thought he was just drunk and that is why he was lying unconscious outside his facility,” the report read in part.

"At around 10 pm the manager went back and checked again but found the person still lying at the same point and had not moved an inch," the report added.

Once the club's manager realised the man wasn't moving nor responding, he called the police from Garissa Police Station to alert them about the matter.

Police officers who rushed to the scene checked his document and established that he was a Laboratory technician at Iftin Girls High School.

The officer later processed the scene before the body was moved to Mwingi Level Five Hospital morgue awaiting a post-mortem exam to determine his cause of death.

The incident comes at a time when cases of revellers dying after taking alcohol or going unconscious for hours has been on the rise.

Two weeks ago, a man identified as Ahmed Karim Abdi collapsed and died at a renowned club in Kitale after taking alcohol.

Investigations into the incident revealed that the deceased was asthmatic and was drinking on an empty stomach.
