Shock and grief engulfed a village in Bathi area, Kimende town in Lari, Kiambu county after a man allegedly killed his wife, and injured his daughter before hanging himself on a tree.

Confirming the incident, Lari Sub-County police boss Adamson Furaha told journalists that the man, 56, had visited his wife's house, after a separation, to resolve a disagreement, in vain.

Later on the night of Friday, October 28, 2022, the man is said to have returned to his wife's house to resolve their disagreement for the second time.

Following another disagreement, the man armed with a panga allegedly slashed his wife killing her on the spot.

Police say he also attacked his child with the intent to kill her, but she managed to escape death by a whisker and sustained multiple injuries.

Man hungs self

Shortly after committing the heinous act, the man ran away and hanged himself on a nearby tree near their rental house.

“We are yet to establish the disagreement that the two had that led to the man killing his wife and leaving their daughter badly injured,” Furaha stated.

Neighbours who rushed to the scene of crime found the girl lying helpless and rushed her to a nearby health facility where she is currently receiving treatment.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased and his victim were moved to a nearby mortuary.

Maina stated that the issues made the couple seek advice at the chief's office and made them live separately.
