Man charged with stealing wine worth Ksh2.1M

A wine salesman was on Monday, August 21, 2023, charged at a Milimani law court with stealing assorted wine valued at Ksh 2,130,065.

George Mwaura Kahoro jointly with others who were not before court is accused of committing the offence on diverse dates between April 10 and July 8, 2023, at Kioru Wines and Spirits Limited in Ngara Nairobi within Nairobi county.

The said wine was the property of Nelson Kiogora.

The court heard that during the time of the alleged offence, Mwaura was the employee of the complainant.

The court also heard that the money came into the accused possession as a virtual payment.

He appeared before the chief magistrate Lucas Onyina and denied the charges.

The prosecution did not oppose his release on bond but requested the matter be consolidated with another pending before the same court where the accused is out on bond.

He was released on a Ksh200,000 bond or alternative cash bail of Ksh100,000.

The matter will be mentioned on August 28, 2023, for pre-trial.
