Uthiru man accused of raping a woman he invited to his house before locking her up has been charged with the offence.

Appearing before Kibera Court Senior Principal Magistrate Philip Mutua, Simon Simiyu Wafula denied the allegations prompting his release on bond.

In the charge sheet, Wafula committed the offence on December 9 in his house in Dagoreti Sub-County.

Simiyu is said to have invited the woman to his house on a different matter only to rape her thereafter.

She arrived at about 8:00 am but before she took a rest, the accused allegedly without the woman's consent pounced on her and undressed her very quickly.

He then threw her in the bed and proceeded to rape her despite her protests.

After he was done committing the heinous act, the accused then inhumanly locked her inside the house and left.

The woman then decided to alert the police who went to try to rescue her but could not because they did not locate the house number.

The woman later tried to free herself from the captivity and ran to the police station where she reported the incident.

The accused was released on a bond of Ksh300,000 pending the hearing of the case next year.
