A 22-year-old man has been charged with donning attires resembling those of Kenya Defence Forces officers on New Year's eve.

Moses Kithuka Kivindyo denied the charge of wearing the uniform without authority before Milimani Magistrate Jane Kamau who granted him a bond of Ksh50,000 or a cash bail of Ksh30,000 with two contact persons.

According to the charge sheet filed in court by the prosecution, on December 31, 2021, at around 4:00 pm along Lagos road in Nairobi county, not being a person in the disciplined forces, without the permission of the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Coordination of National Government was found wearing a pair of trousers that resembled the uniform of the Kenya Defence Forces(Kenya Navy).

Kithuka was arrested by police from the Central Police Station who were on patrol.

According to police, the accused was masquerading as a security officer and had been terrorising members of the public within the CBD.

The case will be mentioned on January 25 for pre-trial.
