Police in Kilimani have arrested a middle-aged man for allegedly blocking President Uhuru Kenyatta’s convoy on State House Road in Nairobi on Tuesday, December 10.

At 2pm, the suspect -- identified as Uvinalies Nyabuto -- obstructed the presidential motorcade while carrying a placard seeking to join the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF). President Kenyatta was heading to State House from the KICC, where a two-day 9th African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) summit was held.

The following words were written on Nyabuto’s placard: “Your Excellency, kindly offer [me] a chance to join the Kenya Defence Forces. [I] am sorry for disrespect[ing] your security (sic). Please, Mr President. [My name is] Nyabuto.”

Nyabuto was immediately arrested and taken to Kilimani Police Station, where he is being held. His placard was confiscated, police said.
