A middle-aged man collapsed and died on Monday afternoon (July 20) shortly after alighting from a Dandora matatu.

The yet-to-be-identified man had reportedly travelled from Buruburu to Dandora Phase 3, where the incident happened.

While dizzy, he is said to have unsuccessfully borrowed a mobile phone from well-wishers to call his family. He collapsed and died thereafter.

Dandora Phase 3 residents took to the streets on Tuesday, July 21 to protest against local police officers’ laxity after the law enforcement agents failed to collect the body, which lay in the open since Monday 1pm.

It took Ministry of Health officers’ intervention to take the body to a city morgue on Tuesday afternoon after police officers refused to collect it, fearing a possible COVID-19 infection.

It remains unclear what caused the middle-aged man’s death.
